Navan is as gracious as he is graceful.

I started Taiji classes with him around 15 years ago. At the time, I was greatly overweight and self conscious. His gentle approach, by planting seeds rather than pushing you too hard, makes all the difference – at least for me, with my Type A personality.

When Navan left South Africa to pursue further studies in the internal martial arts I tried other Tai Chi classes, none of which I found to be half as artful as Navan’s. It was also at this time that I realised how naive I was during our time together, as he is masterful – he does not like it when I say this – and perhaps that is the very point. He is humble and grounded.

As for the actual scope, it is calm, but you will definitely feel the effects of it throughout your body afterwards. It is also meditative which works for my insular nature.

I am so happy he is back home because Taiji has no age limit and needs no level of fitness.

I have had chronic back pain for over 20 years, and almost gave up on relief until I started Gigong.  The improvement is consistent and considerable.  The movements are very precise and slow and almost forces one to slow down. Best thing I have ever done. Feel so energized.

Attending my first Taiji class was both exciting and daunting. Following the instructor’s cues, I realized that Taiji requires patience and discipline. I was initially awkward and unsure, since the movements are deliberate and precise, however I came to understand that Taiji is not about haste. This first experience has certainly left me with a new found interest that I intend to pursue.

I’ve searched for years for a knowledgeable, capable, true to form Qi Gong teacher & am thrilled to say I’ve finally found one in Navan. Excellent form. Beautiful to see.

We stumbled upon Navan purely per chance, and boy what a brilliant stroke of positivity this turned out to be.

Navan’s skill, finesse, gentle and professional approach to Taiji and people in general, made him a huge drawcard for all our elderly residents, male and female alike.

Not only are his classes different from other stuff out there but he is the real deal – our people seemed to benefit in the form of increased flexibility as well as a more relaxed demeanour.

Without a doubt his weekly classes were something to look forward to.

If this is your thing then Navan is your person.

We therefore have no hesitation in recommending his ability in this amazing genre.

Enjoy !

I met Navan when he began teaching Wudang Taiji at the Nelson Mandela Community Youth Centre in May of 2023, My experience in studying the gentle art of Taiji under his tutelage has greatly impacted my life and has inspired me to teach Taiji, and grow the artform within the community of Chatsworth. We now have 30 -35 regulars on a Friday morning . A sense of camaraderie  & team spirit exists within the group as well as a commitment to master this ancient wellness practice.
